Ghost and Fae

I have a friend
Who fell off the edge of the world
Off in the gloaming
The fog, they’re still roaming
And their passing left the mists twirled
I have a friend who vanishes
Now and again
Sometimes for years,
But they’re still my friend
I don’t know why
My friend grows so shy
But when they’re ready, a message they’ll send
I’ve a friend whose part ghost and part fae
What I like of them most
I cannot quite say
They’re often gone
But their memory endures
A light in the day
That brings them along
And we sit once again, sharing laughter and words
I worry sometimes
If their next vanish is their last
So I try to enjoy
Each visit as I can
As my vanishing friend whom I miss the most
I know we’ll all be gone too one day
Then when I’m gone, I guess I’ll be the ghost
And they too will be the fae
